About the Firm

The Law Offices of David Benowitz is a criminal and DUI defense law firm serving Maryland and the District of Columbia. We are dedicated to providing the highest level of criminal defense representation. Our goal is to be professional, communicative and aggressively fight to protect the rights of our clients. With offices across the State of Maryland (Bethesda, College Park and Baltimore) as well as Judiciary Square in the District, we are never far away. The firm handles both State and Federal DUI/ DWI cases. We have seven attorneys and two full time investigators dedicated to criminal defense who collectively have represented clients in countless DUI matters.

David Benowitz
David Benowitz began his career with the prestigious Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, consistently rated one of the best public defender’s offices in the country. As a staff attorney, he represented thousands of clients on allegations of the most serious nature. He has tenaciously and successfully represented both juveniles and adults in complex criminal litigation before judges and juries. Upon graduating with honors from The University of Pennsylvania, David attended the George Washington University School of Law where he graduated near the top of his class. He was an active member of the school’s law review and moot court boards. After several years of practice, David returned to the Temple University’s Beasley School of Law to earn an advanced degree in trial advocacy. He has been awarded the highest AV rating by Martindale Hubbel and enjoys a perfect score of 10/10 on the AVVO rating system.

Kush Arora
Kush Arora focuses his practice on Criminal and DUI Defense work in the Maryland District and Circuit Courts. He is a 2005 graduate of The Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law where he was involved in the Moot Court Society, D.C. Law Students in Court and an Officer on The South Asian Bar Association. Subsequently, he was an Assistant Public Defender in Montgomery County, Maryland and handled a broad range of cases from misdemeanor traffic offenses to serious felonies and successfully represented dozens of clients at trial before both judges and juries.

Jennifer Closser
Jennifer Closser is a former Maryland Assistant State’s Attorney, and has prosecuted many adult and juvenile cases involving DWI, drugs, weapons, arson, robbery, sex offenses and child abuse. During her tenure, she received a Governor’s Citation, a House Resolution from the Maryland House of Delegates, and a Resolution from the Senate of Maryland in recognition of her service. In addition, she served as a judge for high school moot court competitions. Ms Closser graduated from the G.W. Law School in 1995, where she participated in the Criminal and Appellate Clinic. She graduated cum laude from Wellesley College in 1992.
