Maryland MVA Hearing
If you are arrested for a DUI in the state of Maryland, it is critical to act quickly to protect your driving privileges. At the time of your arrest, the arresting officer will likely confiscate your valid Maryland driver’s license. You will then be issued an Order of Suspension and, if eligible, a temporary license which will expire after 45 days. You have just 10 days from the date of your arrest to request a hearing with the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) to protest the suspension of your driver’s license.
If you hold a driver’s license from a different state, while your license may not be confiscated, your state may still act to suspend your driver’s license.
It should be noted that if you have retained a lawyer it will not be necessary for you to attend the suspension hearing. Instead, your representative can make a statement on your behalf.
